What can a sewer camera see, and what can it miss?

A camera can record only what the lens can reach and see. Clear video, direction, distance, and honest limits are just as important as the most noticeable frame.

  • Sonde locating when excavation or a spot repair depends on surface position.
  • Leak, pressure, or other system-specific testing when the question concerns something a camera cannot see.
  • Excavation or exposed inspection when exterior condition must be confirmed for a repair.

Review the video in order instead of jumping to the worst-looking frame. Confirm where it starts, which direction it travels, where the pipe material changes, whether the lens is upright, and whether the distance counter begins at the access point. When possible, follow the camera beyond the finding to see the pipe on both sides.

The recommendation should connect the visible condition to the symptom. An offset holding debris at the same distance where cables repeatedly stop is more useful evidence than an isolated image with no location. Ask what supports more cleaning, monitoring, a spot repair, or a larger replacement, and what remains uncertain.
