The finish, mounting, and pressure-containing surfaces remain sound.
The base will not stay secure or corrosion has reached the mounting hardware and supply connections.
The reach, height, handles, and spray functions still suit the sink and user.
A different fit, control, accessibility feature, or certified efficiency is needed.
The shutoffs and connectors are in serviceable condition.
The surrounding valves, connectors, or drain parts already need substantial work.
Identify what actually failed first
Name the symptom
Separate a spout drip from a handle leak, body leak, loose base, low flow, temperature-control problem, or spray-hose failure.
Identify the faucet
Use markings, paperwork, purchase history, photographs, and manufacturer support. A similar-looking cartridge is not proof that it fits.
Inspect the body and mounting
Look for cracks, corrosion, damaged shanks, a weak mounting surface, and leakage below the sink.
Check the surrounding installation

Compare the complete result
A repair should identify the part being replaced and what condition remains. A replacement should account for fit, connections, removal, testing, and any separate sink or countertop work.

Efficiency is one factor, not the whole decision
For a bathroom sink faucet, the WaterSense label means the product was independently certified to EPA efficiency and flow-performance criteria. [1] The label does not confirm that the faucet fits this sink, and it does not apply the same way to every kitchen, utility, or specialty faucet.
If the only problem is scale at the aerator, clean it with a product allowed for the faucet materials before deciding the whole fixture has failed. - Which part has failed, and is the correct replacement available for this model?
- Is the corrosion only cosmetic, or has it reached a sealing, mounting, or pressure-containing surface?
- Can the existing shutoffs, connectors, drain, mounting holes, and clearances be reused safely?
- How will the spout, handles, spray function, drain, and below-sink connections be tested afterward?
- If you supply the new faucet, which missing or incompatible parts could change the work?
